Designed specifically for industrial conditions and requirements, “NODE.EDGE” is a module that delivers the required level of robustness to ensure maximum availability of AMRs even under challenging environmental conditions. Through continuously updated environment and data models, the NODE.EDGE can adapt to environmental changes in real time and handle unforeseen situations.
AMRs avoid obstacles such as other vehicles or people when desired and successfully execute previously unknown missions. The entire system architecture of the NODE.EDGE is designed for easy and time-efficient commissioning and maintenance. A modern and intuitively usable user interface allows operation by personnel without major training efforts.
NODE.EDGE consists of a total of three functional core modules:
1: Live SLAM (Simultaneous Localization & Mapping)
Do you want localization without additional markers (“contour navigation”) even in highly variable environments?
Live SLAM realizes this by using probabilistic localization methods in combination with continuous map updates.
In the basic setup, the sensor data of the 2D (safety) LIDAR sensors are sufficient for this. Optionally, further sensor systems such as 3D LIDAR, camera systems, GPS/UWB, etc. can be integrated. In addition to the localization, the Live SLAM provides the live map of the environment as a basis for e.g. dynamic route planning and traffic management.
2: Online route planning
Providing the best route at runtime even in large, changing industrial environments?
The online route planner calculates the optimal route between any start/destination points at runtime based on the current map and user-defined traffic zones such as one-way streets and no-go zones.
The route calculation takes into account robot-specific properties such as kinematics, dimensions including speed-dependent protective fields and loading condition.
3: Dynamic motion planning
Efficient routing performance despite dynamic environments?
Dynamic motion planning ensures efficient execution of the global route and collision avoidance by calculating optimal trajectories and velocity commands.
It takes into account both internal constraints of the AMR (kinematics, dynamics, extents, safety fields) and obstacles detected in real time with onboard sensor technology (2D/3D LIDAR, camera systems).
